The Women’s Ministry of First Baptist Church will present the 2008 Holiday Fair from 2 until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2 in the church Activities Building. All women of the community are invited.

The Holiday Fair is the Women’s Ministry’s annual gift to the community. The event is designed to offer women an opportunity to come together in Christian fellowship and to get ideas and inspiration for the holiday season, said Ann Boothe, project chair.

“The Holiday Fair is also for children through age 12,” Boothe said. “We have activities planned for the children, including ornament and gingerbread house making. A nursery will be provided free to make the Holiday Fair more convenient for young mothers.”

At 2:15 p.m., Jennifer Lane will present “Inspirational Thoughts for Women.” All participants will be invited to share in this special time of preparation for the holiday season.

“Jennifer is the wife of our new pastor, Luke Lane,” Boothe said. “The Holiday Fair will be a good chance to get to meet her and know her better.

The Holiday Fair will feature decorated tables for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The tables will be decorated by local ladies and include traditional decorations.

“We’ll have ideas for table decorating on a budget and also for children’s tables,” Boothe said.

The 2008 Holiday Fair will feature a large display of Nativity scenes.

“The Nativity scenes are new this year and everyone should really enjoy them,” Boothe said. “The bow, wreath and ornament making demonstrations will begin at 2:45 and many new ideas and techniques will be presented.”

The Holiday Fair will include special music by the Ladies First Ensemble. Refreshments will be served and door prizes will be awarded.

In conjunction with the Holiday Fair will be “Evangelism through Shopping” from 3 until 5 p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall.

“Women all over the world make items and sell them through missionaries,” Boothe said. “The money that is made is donated back to missions. ‘Evangelism through Shopping’ has purses, baskets and other items made all over the world. There will be a good selection of items to choose from and to take home.”
