Mildred Richardson

Mrs. Mildred Irene Brantley Richardson, age 88, beloved Wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on October 22, 2008. Mrs. Richardson, a 45 year resident of Blakely Georgia, died at Chapman Health Care in Alexander City, Alabama.
She was born in Pike County, Al. to Edward Madison Brantley and May Shanks Brantley. She Graduated from Pike County High School and in 1942 married James Wiley Richardson, also of Pike County. As Jim pursued his forestry career, the couple made many moves throughout the southeast and in 1962 the family made their last move to Blakely, Georgia.
Mrs. Richardson was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Blakely and of the Dorcas SundaySchool class. She was an avid Gardener and was a past member of the Blakely Garden Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, one sister Sarah Brantley, Two Brothers and their wives, James Edwin (Kaiser/Dog) Brantley and Doris, Charles Francis (Tack) Brantley and Frances and a Niece Marcia Brantley LeCroy.
She is survived by her daughter Sarah Ann Richardson Clegg and her husband Cliff of Alexander City, Al. Her Son James Edward Richardson and his wife Vaughan of High Point , N.C., Four Grandchildren, Ashley R. Langley (ken), Nancy R. Lassiter (Marvin), Trey Clegg (Collins), Matt Clegg (Jennifer), and six Great Grandchildren, Kay Langley, Ford Clegg, Anne Carlton Clegg, Libby Clegg, Mathew Clegg, and Brantley Clegg.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Reverend Roger D. Allen, Rector of St. James Episcopal church in Alexander City, Al officiating. Burial will follow in the Banks Cemetery. Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008 from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Dorcas Sunday School Class, First Baptist Church, PO Box 667, Blakely, Georgia 39823. , or the Banks Methodist Church, 4547 County Road 6618, Banks, Alabama, 36005.
