Funeral Services for Mr. Robert Rudolph Weldon will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home in Troy with Rev. Mack Lowery officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 24 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Green Hills Funeral Home.
Mr. Weldon, 79, of Troy died Wednesday, October 22 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, AL. He was a veteran serving in the US Navy. He was a retired electrician/plumber. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who loved his family and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of almost 22 years, Myrtle McQuagge Weldon; three sons: Robert Wayne (Faye) Weldon of Deatsville, Edward Franklin (Dorothy) of Wetumpka, and Carl Ray Weldon of Harvest, AL; 11 grandchildren: Alicia &Emily Weldon, Carlton Weldon, Gaye Sideris, Suzanne McDaniel, Stephanie Dubose, Stephen Weldon, Scott Weldon, David Booth, Rachel Cook, and Eddie Weldon; 10 great grandchildren: Austin Weldon, Colleen Weldon, Zachary &Clayton McDaniel, Courtney Weldon, Taylor &Destiny Dubose, Paden Weldon, Abigail and Alexander Cook; 4 brothers: Ralph Weldon, Donald Ray Weldon, Charles Weldon, and Val Gene Weldon; and 2 sisters: Ann Sanders and Patsy Head.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Vester Columbus and Maudie Leslo Johnson Weldon; brothers: Talmadge and Jack Bernard Weldon; and sister: Earl Laverne Weldon.
Pallbearers will be Carlton, Scott and Stephen Weldon, David Booth, Stan Head and Keith Norton; Honorary Pallbearers will be the Doctors and Nurses of Jackson Hospital ICU and Dr. Bill Jones.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
