Fans all across Brundidge and Goshen were cheering like mad last weekend, as both the Bulldogs and Eagles clinched a playoff berth with a win.

The Bulldogs took down Daleville 27-9 on the road to stay in the hunt for the Region 2 title and the game was complete domination by the road warriors. The Bulldogs are 4-0 in region play on the road, while they are 1-1 in Bulldog Stadium.

I reported from that game and the Warhawks looked nothing like the region leaders should look, as Pike County took advantage of every opportunity given to them in the game.

The Eagles continued blowing people out of the water in a road game against Highland Home. The Eagles have outscored their opponents 203-90 in their last four games and seem to be on a roll.

The Charles Henderson Trojans spanked Carroll to the tune of 62-13 in the friendly confines of Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium and the Pike Liberal Arts Patriots upset the Bessemer Rebels on the road, 40-28.

All that translated to a 3-1 week for Nascone’s Predictions in week 8. The season record stands at 21-8. I did not predict the Troy game, but the mighty Trojans felled the Golden Panthers of FIU 33-23 to remain perfect in the Sun Belt.

This week the Trojans will have no trouble with North Texas on the road, as they will trounce UNT, 45-14.

The Bulldogs should have no problems with Geneva at home and I see them moving the winning streak to four games with a 28-7 win.

Pike Liberal will not slip up in Cecil against the Macon-East Knights. They will head back to Troy with a resounding 35-0 shutout.

Charles Henderson will be in a tough battle for their playoff lives in Eufaula, but the Trojans will pull out a 14-10 victory and enter the 2008 playoffs.

Goshen’s winning streak will be halted by the visiting 6-2 St. Jude Pirates in a close battle, 45-42.
