“According to what the Tuscon PD said, Pete Cash was staying in a motel in Tuscon under an assumed name,” Hanchey said. “The next information that we received from the Tuscon PD on Tuesday was that he was back home. I called and verified that with his wife.”

Hanchey said Cash’s name was entered into the nationwide computer as a missing person in late July.

“From what I understand, he was working in a factory in Tuscon and had been at the motel for several weeks,” Hanchey said. “I don’t think that anyone was looking for him specifically. His truck was located in the parking lot of the motel. Other than that, that’s all that I know.”

According to reports in the Elba Clipper, the 1998 Chevrolet S10 that Cash reportedly purchased in Vicksburg, Miss. on the same day he was last seen in Elba was spotted at a Tuscon motel. The report also stated that Cash had been at the motel for several weeks and was working at a manufacturing firm and was riding a motorcycle that was officially registered to a woman in Las Vega, Nevada.

Hanchey said he has no information about the reason Cash left town and that his department has no warrants or any apparent reason to investigate the matter any further.
