Mr. Golden Carter, age 80, died Monday, October 13, 2008 with his much loved family by his side. Funeral services for Golden Carter will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Shady Grove Baptist Church on Hwy. 125 in Brundidge with Rev. Mack King and Rev. Tony Wood officiating. He will lie in state at the church from 1-2 P.M. one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Skeen Funeral Home in Brundidge. Visitation for Golden Carter was held Tuesday, October 14, 2008 from 6-8 P.M. at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. Carter was born and raised in Brundidge, Alabama. Golden leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 58 years, Mable Carter; two daughters: Jan Dismukes and her husband, Webb and Donna Riley and her husband, Dennis; two grandsons: Jeremy Davis and his wife, Heather and Andrew Davis and his wife, Tiffany; three granddaughters: Daneille Johnson, Whitney Johnson and Morgan Riley; step-grandchildren: Abbey and Ryan Dismukes; one great-granddaughter; Maddie Davis and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society or Shady Grove Baptist Church – Cemetery Fund, Brundidge, Alabama. Pallbearers will be Dickey Carter, Danny Carter, Chad Welch, Jesse Brown, Byron Carter and Jeremy Flowers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Kenneth Wilson, Alvin (Yank) Holte, Jim Fleming, Billy Joe Edgar and Murrell Johnson.
