This week is Homecoming week from one end of Pike County to the other, as Pike County High School and Goshen High School will celebrate Homecoming tomorrow night.

But the big game of the week will happen at Delaney Kervin Stadium when the Pike Liberal Arts Patriots look to remain undefeated against the Lee-Scott Warriors. The Patriots are winning and winning convincingly. They have outscored their opponents 90-6 in their previous three games, including 143 minutes of shutout football.

They are the most dominant team in the Pike County area right now and watching their defense work is an awesome sight.

Anyways, this is Nascone’s Predictions and it is time to get back to talking about last week’s games. I rebounded from a tough 3-5 skid with a 4-1 week to put the season record at 15-6.

The Troy Trojans got their revenge with a 30-17 win in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. over the Florida Atlantic Owls. That was pretty close to the 35-21 prediction in last Thursday’s paper.

The Patriots, as mentioned above, won handily to the tune of 33-6 on the road in Montevallo over the Shelby Academy Raiders. I was really close again with my 28-0 prediction.

The Pike County Bulldogs did not win in shootout fashion, but they did win a barnburner, 25-19 over Abbeville on the road. It was good to see the Bulldogs snap their two-game losing streak. I know coach Brad Waggoner was happy to get a win.

The Goshen Eagles rode the wave of emotions from their 51-26 victory over Pike County all the way to a 44-14 shellacking of R.C. Hatch in Uniontown. I was nowhere near this one on the score, but was glad to see the Eagles start a winning streak.

The only miss of the predictions was the stunner that happened in Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium on Homecoming for the Trojans of Charles Henderson. The Trojans were bummed at the Homecoming dance after a 28-16 loss to region foe Beauregard last Friday.

This week should be a different story for the Trojans.

RHS is 1-5 on the season and their only win was a 27-14 win over Class 3A Daleville.

The Trojans’ offense will wake up and they will head back to Troy with an easy 42-14 win over the Rebels.

Goshen will host Francis Marion on Homecoming Friday and should be able to keep the emotions high and crack above .500 for the first time this season.

The Eagles will fly to a 45-10 win over 1-5 Marion.

The Pike County Bulldogs will welcome Dale County to Brundidge for Homecoming and will celebrate in style with a 28-21 victory.

The No. 3-ranked Pike Patriots and their stout defense will take on the No. 9-ranked Lee-Scott Warriors Friday night.

The Patriots will spear the Warriors by a score of 14-7 in a defensive struggle.

The Trojans of Troy are off until next weekend.
