Troy University students received an e-mail on Thursday morning warning of home invasions in the Troy area after several incidents occurred on Wednesday.

The e-mail stated different scenarios of how the robberies occurred, but suggested that they may be tied together.

“The City of Troy experienced several home robberies (Wednesday), some of which impacted Troy University students. The intruders knocked on the doors and gained entrance under false pretenses of stating that they were looking for someone or had vehicle trouble,” said Dean of Student Services Herb Reeves.

Troy Police Spokesman Sgt. Benny Scarbrough confirmed there were incidents that occurred on Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.

“We are investigating right now,” Scarbrough said.

Scarbrough would not comment further, saying the incidents were still under investigation.

Reeves encouraged all students in the campus-wide e-mail to be certain of who is knocking at the door of their residence.

In an unrelated case, Troy Police made two arrests in connection with a burglary that occurred on Aug. 19.

In other news concerning home invasions, Troy Police made two arrests in connection with a burglary that occurred on August 19th.

Ledriquos Rashad Maddox, 18, of Troy was arrested on September 30th and charged with third degree burglary.

Adrian Demond Gillis, 19, of Troy was also arrested on September 30th and charged with third degree burglary.

The two were arrested for the incident that occurred on August 19th.

Items reported stolen were a video game system, a cell phone, cameras and an MP3 player.

“The incident occurred while the victim was at work,” Scarbrough said. “Police have recovered some stolen property and continue to investigate.”

The pair was arrested on a warrant signed through the City of Troy, and they were later transferred to the Pike County jail.
