The city of Troy will hold a public hearing tonight to give residents a chance to have a voice in the long-term plans of the community.

This will be the final community hearing to discuss the city’s master plan, which will move beyond drafting stages after the meeting.

The hearing will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Recreation Department.

City Planner Calvin Lott said the meeting will be in a similar format to the first hearing, with a presentation of the plan itself, an opportunity to ask questions and group discussions, which will give feedback to the plan’s drafters.

Lott said copies of the draft are available on the city of Troy’s Web site, www.troyalabama.com , or at City Hall.

“Hopefully they’ll have reviewed the plan itself at City Hall or on the Web site, and bring any comments or questions,” Lott said.

Lott said residents can submit comments in writing, as well.

The plan’s vision, goals, concepts and recommendations are areas Lott said will be discussed.

While nothing in the city plan will be guaranteed to happen, Lott said it will serve as a guideline for future development.

“The purpose of the city plan is to have a concept of the type of development you want to see in the city,” Lott said. “It’s used as a guide to develop future growth.”
