Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Carmichael Starling, age 94, of Anniston, will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 3, 2008 at Glenwood United Methodist Church in Glenwood, AL. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at 3:30 PM at Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy.
Mrs. Starling had retired from the State of Alabama Department of Education after 35 years. She was a longtime member of Dalraida United Methodist Church in Montgomery and was active in the Adelphia Sunday School Class as well as the United Methodist Women. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and wife. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Shelby L. Starling, Sr.
Mrs. Starling is survived by her son, Shelby L. Starling, Jr. and his wife, Sara; sisters, Evanell Jackson and Enid Folmar; brother, Billy W. Carmichael; grandchildren, Shelby Lamar Starling, III and his wife, Misty Lynn, Laurel Wilson and her husband, Brady, and Claire Caballero and her husband, Matthew; and great grandchildren, Olivia and Ian Caballero and Shelby Starling, IV.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jack Jackson, Dr. Andrew Jackson, Dr. Douglas Jackson, Dr. Timothy Jackson, Walter Folmar, Jr., Asher Carmichael, Joe Glenn Carmichael, Eddie Carmichael, Billy Carmichael, Sidney Starling, Jr., and David Starling, Jerry Starling, and Malcolm Starling.
