Homegoing Services In Loving Memory of Sis. Lillie Mae Stewart Griffin will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at County Line Missionary Baptist Church Brundidge, Alabama, with Rev. Carl L. Hollis, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at County Line Church Cemetery under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home.
Lillie Stewart Griffin was the second of nine children born to the late C. B. Stewart and Emma Lou Borders Stewart on July 17, 1935 in Brundidge, Alabama.
She accepted Christ at an early age and united with County Line Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended and was a dedicated servant as Chaplain of the Senior Usher Board, Chaplain of the Matrons, member of the New Area Ushers’ Union, and the Missionary Society until her death. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 213.
She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. J. C. Griffin and to this union four children were born.
She retired from Brundidge Fruit of the Loom after 27 years, and was a part-time employee of both the Pike County American Red Cross and First Baptist Church of Troy.
She departed this life on Saturday, September 20, 2008.
She was preceded in death by her parents, C. B. and Emma Lou Stewart; one sister, Annette Roosevelt, and one brother, Rev. Richard Stewart.
She leaves cherished and loving memories to her four children: Danny Stewart, Nashville, TN; Devens (Patricia) Griffin, Detroit, MI; and Pamela and Marrion Griffin, both of Brundidge, AL; her siblings: Millean Stewart Lampley, Daleville, AL; John H. Stewart, Minnie S. (Charles) McGuire, Marrion Jean Jones, Jeanette Stewart, and Rayvon Stewart, all of Detroit, MI; and Ray Lampley, Brundidge, AL; her loving grandchildren: LaTanya Lampley, Camela Griffin, FaMondrea Griffin, Daffaney Griffin, Brandon Knowlton, Imani Stewart, Jamal Griffin, Ryan Williams, and Shawn Williams; six great grandchildren: X’zandria Foster, Le’Travous Griffin, Mahri Ranson, FaMariah Wallace, T. J. Williams, and Raven Williams; three aunts: Florence Johnson, Lola Craig, and Jossie Smart; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; including a special cousin, Dorothy Davenport; and very special friends: Ann Andrews, Willa White, Helen Cooper, Dorothyrine Munningham, Mary Terry, Beatrice Mason, Annette Rumlin, Ida Mae Basnight, Martha Sue Ray, Minnie Pearl Snell, and Jeanette Lampley.
