Lady Trojans hang tough with No. 2 Rehobeth at home

Two days after allowing two grand slam home runs and an AHSAA record 10 RBIs to Enterprise catcher Sara Hilton, the Charles Henderson Lady Trojans hung tough with the No. 2-ranked Rehobeth Lady Rebels Thursday evening at the Troy Sportsplex.

The Lady Trojans (5-13) had Rehobeth on the ropes 5-1 heading into the fifth inning, but the Lady Rebels (26-5-1) stormed back and scored six runs in the fifth and sixth innings for the win.

Rehobeth scored first with a run in the second inning, but the Lady Trojans answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning. Julie Money walked and Jaquaja Booker laced a double to score Money for the 1-1 tie.

Kasee Carter and Hannah Spann reached on singles and Taylor Smartt reached base on a fielder’s choice to load the bases in the third inning.

Two batters later Courtney Wood cleared the bases with a two-out double, giving CHHS ad 4-1 lead. Carter was 3-for-4 in the game and Spann was 2-for-4.

Carter singled in Nick Jones in the fourth inning for the final run for the Lady Trojans. Jones reached on a double.

Wood took the loss for the Lady Trojans on the mound. She allowed seven runs on 15 hits. She struck out one and walked one.

Up next for the Lady Trojans is a game on the road against Andalusia High April 8 beginning at 4:30 p.m.
