Louise C. Bateman

Louise C. Bateman, 96, of Blountstown, Fla., passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at the home of her son, Benjamin J. (B.J.) Bateman Jr. in Troy.

Mrs. Bateman was born April 25, 1911, in Calhoun County and had lived here for most of her life. She was a retired school teacher with numerous years of teaching. She was a 1961 graduate of Florida State School of Education with a bachelor's degree. She was a member of the Blountstown Chapter #179 OES and was a member of First Baptist Church in Blountstown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Jefferson Bateman Sr.

Survivors include two sons, B..J. (Jay) Bateman Jr. of Troy and David Robert Bateman of Jennings, Fla.; brother, W.T. Chafin of Largo, Fla.; four grandchildren, Leah, Michael, Christy and Geoffrey.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Blountstown with Bud Guilford officiating.

Interment will follow in Lake Mystic Cemetery in Bristol, Fla.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, from 6 p.m. (CDT) until 8 p.m. (CDT) at the funeral home.

The family will accept flowers, but anyone wishing may make contributions to Wiregrass Hospice of Dothan.

All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home.

Janey Gorman Butler

Janey Gorman Butler passed away on July 24, 2007, in Marietta, Ga., from complications from a kidney infection and pneumonia.

Mrs. Butler was born in Troy on October 20, 1934, to Ruben and Oris Gorman.

Mrs. Butler is survived by her two brothers, Frank (Booster) Gorman and Ronald (Billy) Gorman, both of Troy; and her daughter, Janey Wiggins, and son, Ron Wiggins, both of Marietta, Ga.

Services for Mrs. Butler will be held in Troy at a future time.
