Elese Carroll McVay

Elese Carroll McVay, born August 4, 1925 to her parents,  George Barney Carroll and Fannie Lou Carroll. She died on July 12, 2007. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death  by her husband, Davis McVay and her brothers, Collace Carroll and Comeron Carroll.

She is survived by her sons, Mahlon McVay of Troy, and Michael McVay and Daughter-in-law, Corinne McVay, Granddaughter, Lauren McVay of Houston, Texas,  also surviving are Sister-in-law, Velma Carroll, Nieces, Carla Rice (Tom) of Troy, Mary S. Masterson (Don) of Annandale, Va., Minoise Chambers (Wade) of Irving, Tx., Patsy Russell (Rodgers) of Wetumpka, Al., Helen Traweek (Ken) of Birmingham, Al., Nephew Max Barron (Barbara) of Troy, beloved friend and caregiver Martha Hutchinson of Troy.

Elese grew up in Center Ridge Methodist Church. Upon her marriage to Davis she became an active member of Union Hill United Methodist Church, where she worshipped until she was no longer able to.

Elese worked at Rosenberg's Department store and retired from the Pike Teachers Credit Union. Most of all, her life was spent in service to her Lord and her family.

Funeral Services will be held at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 3:00 P.M. with Reverend Jimmy Spikes and Reverend Dave Kirby officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at Dillard Funeral Home from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M.  . Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.  Dillard  Funeral Home in Troy directing.  Serving as Pallbearers will be Max Barron, Andy Chance, Charles Dunn, Edsel Edwards, Jerry Jinright, Thomas Rice.  Honarary  Pallbearers will be O.D. Grimes, Charlie Norris and Ken Traweek.

Memorials if desired may be   made in her name to the Union Hill United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society, The Heart Association or a charity of your choice.

Harold L. Black

Harold L. Black, 77, of Ft. Davis, Al., a native of North Carolina, died at his home on Thursday, July 12, 2007.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 11 a.m. from Gray Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Keith Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Perote Cemetery.

Mr. Black was the owner of Central Fire Protection in Atlanta, Georgia for many years.

He is survived by his wife Betty Davis Black; one son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Dottie Black of Perote; two daughters, Belinda Bland of Maryland and Julia Ann Mabe of Georgia; three grandchildren, Nathan Black, Dustin Doris and Sara Mabe. Memorials made be made to Miracle Hill Ministries, P.O. Box 2546, Greenville, South Carolina 29602 or St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

The family will receive friends at Gray Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
