James J. Merrill

Funeral services for James J. Merrill, 101, of Red Level, who died Saturday, May 26, 2007, in a local nursing home, were held at 3:30 p.m. Monday from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Sport officiating with a eulogy given by Joe Rex Sport.

Burial followed at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Erva R. and Aubrey Odom of Red Level and Merlene and Ray Yancey of Troy; his son, Gene Merrill of Red Level, his grandchildren,, Susan Pynes, Diane Childs, Wendell Wells and Allen Merrill; his step-grandchildren, Marvin Odom and Hilda Hall; 14 great-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Wendell Wells, Josh Wells, Tony Swindall, Matthew Childs, Billy Wells, Johnny Campbell, Terry Grantham, Junior Curry, Lamar Foley and Elbert Craig.

Ouida Turner

Ouida Turner, 92 of Troy, died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at her home.

Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Oak Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Richard Green officiating and Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing.

Visitation will be held from from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy. 

Survivors include a daughter, Charlene Green of Dothan; son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Carol Turner of Wetumpka; son and daughter-in-law, John and Gail Turner of Dothan; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her husband, Harris Carlton Turner. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Green, Scott Winter, Matthew Green, Jeff Kervin, Carl Hussey and Buggy Carr.  

Billy Jinright will be an honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wiregrass Hospice or the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
