Betty Ann Little Hollis

Funeral services for Betty Ann Little Hollis, who died Sunday, April 15, 2007, will be held at 11 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Troy with Dr. Ed Walter, the Rev. George Hollis, and the Rev. Wade Acton officiating.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. at the church.

Following the service, there will be a procession to the graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Mrs. Hollis was the wife of Jerry Hollis and mother of Tom Hollis. She was the daughter of Marvin and Mary Little, who raised her with the help of her aunts, Annie Hendrick Barr and Ethel Elizabeth Barr.

Mrs. Hollis grew up in Troy, graduating from Charles Henderson High School in 1961.

She went on to Troy State University, where she decided to marry her high school sweetheart, Jerry Hollis. They married on Aug. 17, 1964, and moved to Memphis, Tenn., where Jerry completed optometry school. The couple then moved to Laurel, Miss., and later to Picayune, Miss., where they lived for 25 years.

Mrs. Hollis was involved in many church activities at the First Presbyterian Church. She also was involved in many community activities. She moved back to Alabama in 1991, living on Lake Martin.

She was a good storyteller, cook, bridge player and gardener. She loved to nurture plants and flowers in her garden and in her house. Everything she did, she did well. She endeared herself to all with her unconditional love and care for others. She was a complete homemaker and a beautiful Southern lady.

Mrs. Hollis is survived not only by her husband, Jerry, and son, Tom, but by many loving family members.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Little, Ben Little, Bob Boothe, Bert Wilkes, Steve Colley, Jud Colley, Phil Hall, Bill Steagall, and Paul Pankey.

Mary E. (Mrs. Comer) Shirley

Funeral services for Mary E. (Mrs. Comer) Shirley, 93, of Troy, who died Saturday, April 14, 2007, will be at 2 p.m. today at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with the Rev. Otis Derrah officiating.

Burial will be in Mossy Grove Cemetery under the direction of Skeen Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Shirley was born June 18, 1913. She was a nurse at the old Beard Hospital and later worked at Edge Hospital. Mrs. Shirley was the oldest member of Bush Memorial Baptist Church.

The love of her life was her little dog (Molly) for 11 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Comer Shirley; parents, Willis Clemmie and Sarah Elizabeth Mills Wilson; two brothers, Willis Hubert Wilson and Thomas J. Wilson; and two sisters, Eunice Jinright and Lois Knotts.

Survivors include her sister, Margie Knight of Troy; sister-in-law, Dixie Rae Wilson of Troy; loving niece and her husband, Elizabeth and James Motes; nieces and nephews, Elaine Pfneisel of Panama City Beach, Fla., Shirley Ann Duffy of Montgomery, Ronnie Knotts of Dothan and Donnie Knotts and Benny Jinright, both of Troy; and several

great-nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Knotts, Bobby Sexton, Benny Jinright, Greg Motes, Howell Skeen and Paul Knight.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lighthouse Hospice of Troy.

The family request memorials be made to Mossy Grove Cemetery and Bush Memorial Baptist Church.

Queen E. Adair Struggs

Funeral services for Queen E. Adair Struggs, 47, of Troy, who died at her home will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny McCray officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home.

She was born April 29, 1959, in Alabama and completed the 12th grade. She was employed by Home Health Care and attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Macie Bean and George Adair.

Kathleen Patricia Woodard

Funeral services for Kathleen Patricia Woodard, 41, of Austin, Texas, who died Saturday, April 14, 2007, were Monday at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas, with Pastor Keith Abbott officiating.

Mrs. Woodard attended Great Hills Baptist Church in Austin and graduated from the University of Texas in 2004 with a degree in Psychology. She has spent the last seven years as an active volunteer at St. Frances School.

She was preceded in death by her father, James (Jimmy) Oliver; grandparents, O.L. and Emma Grace Oliver and Parasena Burbage.

She is survived by her husband, Sterling Woodard; son, Reagan Horton; step-son, Christian Woodard; mother, Betty Oliver; brothers, Tim Oliver and his wife, Staci, and Chris Oliver and his wife, Donna; nephews, Taylor, Zachary, Lincoln and Walker Oliver and Shelby and Dillon Woodard; and nieces Haley and Lindan Oliver.

Pallbearers were Ronnie, Shane and Sterling Woodard, Buddy Copeland and Tim and Chris Oliver.

Lillie Irene Drumin Robinson

Funeral services for Lillie Irene Drumin Robinson, 84, of Hopewell, Va., and formerly of Troy, who died Wednesday, April 11, 2007, were at 11 a.m. Monday at Bethel Friendship AME Church in Orion with the Rev. Carl Davis officiating.

Burial was in China Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Robinson was born June 28, 1922, in Pike County to Ed Toney and Lizza Drumin.

She attended Pike County public schools. She worked for Headstart. Mrs. Robinson also was a member of Bethel Friendship AME Church in Troy and Order of the Eastern Star Humphrey Beauty Chapter #226.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Louis Robinson.

She is survived by her son, Lonnie Drumin of Hopewell, Va.; a granddaughter, Vachon (Eric) Ellis and one great-granddaughter, Erica Essence Ellis, all of Montgomery; five step-children, one deceased and one devoted, Isophere Andrews of Hamilton, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Margaret C. Robinson of Troy; one brother-in-law, Jessie Handy of Belzoni, Miss.; a host of nieces, one devoted, Willie Mae Tolbert of Columbus, Ohio; a host of nephews, two devoted, Willie Williamson of Hollywood, Fla., and Henry Curtis of Tuscaloosa; and other relatives and extended family, including Francis Wright of Birmingham, Hattie Harvis and Francis Dubose of Troy, William Stringfield, Kalisthya Thompson of Hopewell, Va., Wendy Yates of Dinwiddie, Va., and members of Bethel Friendship AME Church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Troy and Third Street Bethel AME of Richmond, Va., and the Rev. and Mrs. Carl Davis of Montgomery.

Margaret Jewell Conerly

Funeral services for Margaret Jewell Conerly, 83, of Jack, who died at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Perdue Assembly of God Church in Jack with the Rev. Bobby Ray Crocker officiating.

Burial will follow in Perdue Assembly of God Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Conerly was born Dec. 11, 1923, in Adamsville to the late Columbus Cleveland Crocker and Elsie Harper Crocker. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Madeline Cooper; and two brothers, Elmer Lee Crocker and Robert Crocker.

Survivors include a daughter, Pat Richard of Jack; sons and their wives, Bud and Cindy Conerly of Orlando, Fla., and Bill and Lin Conerly of Frisco, Texas; a sister, Mary Lou Whaley of Bay City, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are James Wolfe, James Pickle, Clayton Hugh Cooper, Terry Bills, Jake Hutto and Harold McKuhn.
