Creola McCullar Davis

Graveside services for Creola McCullar Davis, 94, who died Feb. 12, 2007, in Troy will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Jaley Williams Cemetery in Double Springs.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

Mrs. Davis was born March 19, 1912.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Tennie McCullar; brothers, Clyde, Abner and Earl McCullar; sisters, Irene Noblett and Mabel Wideman; and husband, Jess Davis.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tennie and Larry Jarrell of Troy; granddaughter and her husband, Amanda and Jason Billiot of Cleveland, Ohio; grandson, Paul Jarrell of Knoxville, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Saxon and Madison Billiot; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

George Alexander Balmer

Funerl services for George Alexander Balmer, 82, of Troy, who died at his home on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, were at 4 p.m. Saturday at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Steve Rascoe and the Rev. Bo Weed officiating.

Burial followed at Green Hills Memorial Park.

Visitation was held from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Balmer was a veteran of WWII.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Balmer Sr.; mother, Mary McKaig Balmer; brothers, James and Richard Balmer; and sister, Marguerite, Caroline and Arabelle.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Balmer; children, George E. Balmer of Seaside, Ore.; daughter, Sydney, Beverly Strange (J.B.) of Savannah, Ga.; children, Tuesday and Bryan, Elizabeth Pelkey (Denis) of Land O'Lakes, Fla.; children, Senior Airman John Pelkey, leaving for Iraq on Feb. 14, and Lauren Pelkey, Kathleen Jackson (Mack) of Pensacola, Fla.; children, Whitley, Matthew, Mackenzie, Shelby, and Kaitlin and baby boy in June; Christine McLendon (Doug) of Troy; children, Douglas, Scott, Alex and Brooke; James Balmer (Shalanda) of Rockledge, Fla.; children, Jacob, Michael and Naomi, David Balmer of Opelika; Daniel Balmer (Nicole) of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Isabella, Amy Carswell of Troy; children, Christian and Amber; at least (according to George) five great-grandchildren; brother, Herby Balmer (Betty) of Little Torch Key, Fla.; and sister, Betsy Bergner (Dick) of Florida; dear friend of many years, Bobby Joe Renfroe; and his faithful dog, Dutchess.

Pallbearers were James Balmer, David Balmer, Daniel Balmer, Bobby Joe Renfroe, Joey Renfroe, Jason Porterfield and Ryan Cole.

Honorary pallbearers were his grandsons, Brian Cook, John Pelkey, Matthew Jackson, Mackenzie Jackson, Douglas McLendon, Scott McLendon, Jacob Balmer, Michael Balmer and Christian Carswell.
