Services for Mary A. Jordan, 89, of Troy, who died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at Troy Regional Medical Center in Troy, will be at 2 p.m. today at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with the Rev. Loyd Hodge officiating.

Burial will be in Antioch Church of Christ Cemetery in Shellhorn under the direction of Skeen Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

There will be a viewing from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jordan was born April 29, 1917, in Pike County. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom Ward and Kitts Ann Grissett Ward, and three sisters, Flora Paynes, Rutha Mae Bell and Limba Ward.

Survivors include two sons, James Herman Jordan and Donald Jordan both of Troy; daughter, Ann Daniels of Goshen; three granddaughters, Patricia Lynne Gorrie of Orlando, Fla., Donna Michele Jordan of Montgomery and Melissa Daniels of Goshen; grandson, Robin Daniels of Glenwood; three great-granddaughters, Hannah Grace Jordan of Montgomery, Mandy Daniels of Troy and Rose Daniels of Glenwood; great-grandson, Cody Daniels of Troy; and several special friends.

Pallbearers will be James Ketchum, Bobby Jones, Wesley Kilpatrick, Ronnie Plunkett, Dewayne Tillery and Terry (Pee Wee) Thomas.

Memorials may be made to Wiregrass Hospice of Troy.

Ernestine Pippin Torgerson

Funeral services for Ernestine Pippin Torgerson, 81, of Ozark, who died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, in Dale Medical Center following a brief illness, will be at 2p.m. to at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with the Rev. Greg Aman officiating.

Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.

Visitation was Saturday night at the funeral home.

Mrs. Torgerson was born May 19, 1925, in Ariton to the late Lydia Ola Paul Pippin and Jim Tom Pippin. She traveled with her late husband, Lt. Col. Charles Leo Torgerson, while he served in the United States Army, living in the Far East, France and Okinawa. Mrs. Torgerson served as a Grey Lady with the Red Cross at Fort Bragg, N.C. and later as a Pink Lady with Dale Medical Center. She was a member of the Wiregrass Chapter Gold Star Wives Club, serving as an officer for many years. She was a member of Ozark Baptist Church and the Mary and Martha Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Torgerson was preceded in death by two sisters, Jewell Pippin Heath and Lydia Ruth Weeks; one sister-in-law, Shirley Howell Pippin; three brothers, Paul B. Pippin, Jesse M. Pippin and James Tolbert Pippin; and one nephew, Thomas M. Pippin.

Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Marie Torgerson of Ozark, Sheree Lynn Hughes and her husband, Johnnie, of Ozark and Laurie Ann Rogers of Troy; one son, Dr. Charles Leo Torgerson II of Birmingham; four grandchildren, Michael Fischer, Pamela Hughes, Kyle Hughes and Nicholas Rogers; one brother, Thomas Darren Pippin and his wife, Lois of Ozark; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Mary and Martha Sunday School Class of Ozark Baptist Church and the Pink Ladies of Dale Medical Center.

Ella Mae Golden

Funeral services for Ella Mae Golden, 84, of Troy, who died at Troy Health and Rehabilitation on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at 2 p.m. today at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Dr. Malone Chandler and James Ira Floyd officiating.

Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.

Mrs. Golden was a hostess and waitress at the Holiday Inn in Troy for several years.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service today at the funeral home.

She is survived by her long-time partner of 35 years, Jack B. Davis of Troy; sister, Grace Foster of Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ham of Dothan; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as the Davis children who loved her very much.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Sloan, Herbie Davis, Andy Ham, Gary Hughes, Ronnie Yancey, W.L. Stallings and Davis Sloan.

Thomas Hebron Youngblood Sr.

Thomas Hebron Youngblood Sr., 89, died on Feb. 17, 2007, at Troy Health and Rehabilitation Center after suffering a long illness.

A memorial service is planned for May 2007 at Elam Primitive Baptist Church in Goshen, when all the family will be gathered. The exact date will be published later.

Mr. Youngblood was born in Shellhorn on Jan. 20, 1918, in the home that his grandparents gave his parents as a wedding gift. He was a lifelong resident of South Alabama, living in Shellhorn, Ansley, Montgomery and Troy. For many years, he owned a grocery store in Ansley, which his father owned before him. In his work career, he also worked as an R.E.A. land surveyor and a real estate broker and was retired from the Alabama Revenue Department. He was married for 25 years to the former Susie Marise Kelley of Goshen, who died in 1999.

Mr. Youngblood is predeceased by his parents, William Thomas and Marah Motes Youngblood; his brother, Clifton Motes Youngblood; his sister, Evelyn Youngblood; and his son, James Michael Youngblood.

Survivors include his sister, Ona Myrle Davis of Troy; sister, Ruth Greene of Atlanta; brother, Herbert Hoover Youngblood (Anne) of Youngblood; sister-in-law, Madeline Youngblood of Dothan; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Hebron Jr. and Suzanne Youngblood of Gaithersburg, Md.; daughter, Suzanne Lawrence of Lenexa, Kan.; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Steven Williams of Charlotte, N.C.; grandson, Michael Zachary Lawrence (Michiko) of Lenexa, Kan.; granddaughter, Suzannah Catherine &#8220Cassie” Franco (Antonio) of Las Vegas, Nev.; granddaughter, Jessica Erin Gardiner (Scott) of Charlotte, N.C.; and granddaughter, Kelley Suzanne Williams of Charlotte, N.C. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Haley Suzanne Gardiner of Charlotte and Ryder Green Whitten Franco of Las Vegas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
