John Robert Woods

Funeral services for John Robert Woods, who died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at Troy Health and Rehabilitation Center, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Goshen First Baptist Church where the Rev. Jonas Rogers is pastor and the Rev. Willie Newberry will be officiating.

Burial will be at Goshen First Baptist Cemetery under the direction of George

Mr. Woods was born Jan. 23, 1935, in Goshen to Roy and Bell Smith Woods.

He was a member of the Sons and Daughters of Levite.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Tessie Woods; and his brother, Earnest

Woods.

He is survived by a sister, Ruby Jewell Deloatch of New Brunswick, N.J.; a niece,

Mary Dean Woods of New Brunswick, N.J.; a cousin and caregiver, Minnie Kelly of Goshen; six aunts, Minnie Simmons of Cleveland, Ohio, Elmira Howard

and Cumi Rushton, both of Detroit, Mich., Annie Greenly of Birmingham; Annie C. Woods of Troy and Willie Mae Woods of Jersey City, N.J.; special cousins, Julia Washington of Goshen and Martha Davenport of Troy; friend, John Bogan; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers and flower bearers will be family and friends.

Janice Davenport Hooten

Funeral services for Janice Davenport Hooten, who died on Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at Troy Regional Medical Center, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Ansley with the Rev. Pierre Harvey, pastor of Spoken Truth Christian Church of Troy, officiating.

Burial will be at Springfield Church Cemetery under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hooten was born July 20, 1962, to Henry and Georgia Davenport in Pine Level.

She was a member of Old Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in China Grove.

She later joined Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Ansley, where she was a faithful member until her death.

She was employed by Troy University.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Cephus Davenport; her parents-in-law, Jimmie Lee Hooten and Lucy B. Hooten; and one brother-in-law, Jimmie Lewis Hooten.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Earl Hooten of Troy; a daughter, Valencia Hooten, McDonough, Ga.; a grandson, Jabari Flowers of McDonough, Ga.; her parents, Henry and Georgia Davenport of Montgomery; four sisters, Laura Jean Fuller of Montgomery, Letha Jewel (Rev. Jeremiah) Richardson of Detroit, Mich., Louella Genous of Birmingham and Mattie Slaughter of Hamilton, Ohio; four brothers, David May Jones of Pine Level, Leonard Davenport of Birmingham and Anthony Davenport and Harold Lee Davenport, both of Montgomery; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including her best friend, Mary Tuck of Troy, and her special friends, Lakeysia Youngblood, Carolyn Money, Dana Wilson, Sharon Pelton and Marie Berry, all of Troy, and Annie McMillian of Goshen.

Pallbearers and flower bearers will be friends of the family.
