Sue Lee Helms

Sue Lee Helms, last surviving child of eleven children, of Charles Steven and Ida Louise Carpenter Hill Lee, born October 2, 1906 was visited by the Death Angel on April 25, 2006 at 5:55 A.M. who laid his icy loving touch upon our dear precious mother, and carried her spirit into the presence of her Heavenly Father, who she loved so well.

Our loved ones, our Friends came to us, our sorrow was their sorrow and their tears mingled with ours, For they know what a dear loving mother she was.

Our mother was such a noble woman.

Her life and death stands out boldly as an example of true womanhood.

She was patient, gentle and kind, unassuming and ever ready to forgive in life.

She did her duty cheerfully, whether in the midst of flowers or thorns, adversity or prosperity, her influence was for good and was felt far beyond the Family circle.

Her heart and purse were free to all in distress. She will live long in the hearts of those left behind.

Her life will be a lasting monument standing on the Christian road to point the correct way for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, loved ones and friends.

She was married to Hobbie Howell Helms, on June 27, 1928 to whom three daughters were born.

All survive her: Mrs. Dorothy Lee (William Stark Laney, Sr., deceased) Laney, Brundidge, Alabama, Mrs. Martha Sue (L.B. &uot;Sonny&uot; Williams) Williams, Lake Jackson, Texas, Mrs. Ann Howell Golden (Theron Dunn Harden, Jr.) Harden, Chipley, Florida. Besides her three daughters, she leaves seven grandchildren: Donna Lee Hogan, William Stark Laney, Charles Howell Laney, Benjamin Alan Williams, Karen Sue Gillenwaters, Suzanne Harrison, Ronald Scott Golden and nine great grandchildren, Michelle and John Hogan, Bill Laney, Tyler and Dustin Williams, Megan Johnson, Katie, Alec and Brody Golden.

She was a resident of Tarpon Springs, Florida for 50 years, she was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church in Brundidge, Alabama. She loved her church and it teachings. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The going away of our dear, sweet mother has left our home so sad and lonely, while we humbly bow in submission to Him.

The funeral service will be held at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Brundidge, Alabama on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 3:00 P.M. with Reverend Jimmy Spikes officiating.

Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge on Friday, April 28, 2006 from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M.

She will be laid to rest beneath tokens of love and sympathy in Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge, Alabama on Friday, April 28, 2006 following the service. Pallbearers will be Stark Laney, Alan Williams, Scott Golden, John Hogan, Bill Laney, Greg Johnson, and Calvin Harrison.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Laney and James Clark.

The family request that memorials may be to the Brundidge United Methodist Church or Covenant Hospice.

May our Heavenly Father be gracious to her lonely children who are deeply grieved and realize that there is no love on earth like a mother's and who so greatly miss her.

May this Providence watch over and guide each one of us, and bring all at last to a happy reunion in the eternal sunshine of Heaven.
