Mrs. Mary Florence (Poncy) Collier

Mrs. Mary Florence (Poncy) Collier age 76 of Montgomery died Sunday, December 18, 2005 at her home. Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery of Elba on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 beginning at 3 p.m. with Rev. Mart Gray officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery of Elba. Visitation will be at Hayes Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Collier family will receive friends at the Collier home 3314 Allendale Place in Montgomery after 6 p.m. Tuesday, following the services. Pallbearers will be George Clive Collier, Samuel Claude Collier, John Brock Collier, George Drummond Aplin, Schuyler Logan Collier, and William Brock Collier. Mrs. Collier was a member of First Baptist Church in Montgomery.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years George Lamar Collier of Montgomery; daughter Mary Mims (Bruce) of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; son George Clive Collier (Lori) of Minden, La., son Samuel Claude Collier (Jackie) of Kennesaw, Ga., son John Brock Collier (Beth) of Troy; grandson-in-law-George Aplin of Belleville, Ill., granddaughter Holley Aplin of Belleville, Ill., grandson Schuyler Collier of Monroe, La., granddaughter Caroline Collier of Minden, La. grandson Seth Collier of Minden, La., granddaughter Katherine Collier of Kennesaw, Ga., granddaughter Elizabeth Collier of Kennesaw, Ga., grandson Brock Collier of Troy, grandson Sam Collier of Troy. In lieu of flowers Poncy requested the planting of a tree in her honor.

Willie Bell &uot;Chatty&uot; Flowers

Mrs. Willie Bell &uot;Chatty&uot; Flowers, 87, of Chicago, Ill., died December 10, 2005. Services were held Monday, December 19, 2005, at Elam Missionary Baptist Church in Springhill, with Rev. Frank Likely officiating. Burial followed at Elan Church Cemetery under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home in Troy.

Born Feb. 1, 1918, she was born to Johnnie Willie Flowers and Arthur Flowers. She received her education in the Pike County Schools. She was a member of Elam Missionary Baptist Church in Springhill until her health failed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Willie Flowers and Arthur Flowers; husband, Walter Flowers; two sisters, Bertha Mae and Arthur Mae; two brothers, Sanford and Porter, one son, Clarence Jr., and one great-grandson, Deyonte Owens.

Survivors include two loving and devoted children, Ruthie Mae (Samuel) Smith and Peter (Betty) Flowers, both of Chicago; six grandchildren, April, Carla, Darnell, June, Latoya, and Pierre, all of Chicago; 10 great-grandchildren; three special cousins, Rev. L.C. McMillian of Troy; Willie B. Flowers of Houston, Texas, and Olivia Siler of Enterprise; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were peter Darnell Jackson, Harold Roberson, Hiawatha Johnson, Ronald Smith, Samuel Polk and Jimmie Thomas. Flower bearers were friends of the family.

Carrie

L. Ming Perdue

Carrie L. Ming Perdue, 91, of Goshen died Dec. 14, 2005.

Services were held on Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Goshen Baptist Church with the Rev. Jonas Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Goshen Church Cemetery under thedirection of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home.

She was born March 13, 1914, in Coffee County. She received her education in Pike County Schools. She was a member of Goshen Baptist Church in Goshen.

She was preceded in death by her

parents, grandparents husbands Jefferson Brundidge and Kara Perdue; one son, C.J. Brundidge, one; sister, Audre Mong and one brother, Percey Ming.

Survivors include a son, Earnest Perdue of Goshen; a daughter, mary jane McAtee of Louisville, Ky.; four grandchildren, Joe Herndon, Nelzena Brown, Valori Perdue and Jeron Reed; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and sdeveral nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were

Mack Arthur Barber, Zollie Jackson, Mickey Deveridge, Eddie Smith Jr., Tommy Deveridge and Tommy Taylor.

Flower bearers are choir members and ushers of Goshen Baptist Church.

Kathryn  Marie Gibbons Spitler

Kathryn  Marie Gibbons Spitler, age 74 of Troy died Saturday, December 17, 2005 at her home.  Funeral Services will be held  Tuesday, December 20, 2005

At 11:00 A.M. from the 1st United Methodist Church of Geneva with Reverend Steve Rascoe and Dr. Mike Shirah officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial  Cemetery in Geneva with Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing. There will  be a visitation  at the church from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.  Also a visitation will be at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday.

Survivors include:  Daughter and Son-in-law,  Cindy and David Miller of Troy,  2 Sons and Daughters-in-law,   Mitchell and Terri Spitler of Dothan,  Michael and Mona Spitler of Dothan,  6 Grandchildren,  Abby Spitler, Amanda Spitler, Macy Spitler,  Blake Spitler,  Cody Miller,  Devin Miller,

Sister and Brother-in-law,  Jean and Bob Darr of Foley, Alabama,  Several nieces and nephews, Mrs Spitler was preceded in death by, her husband William F. Spitler,  Sisters and Brothers,  Burnice Cheshire,  Louise Crutchifield,  Jessie Hatcher,  Lonnie Gibbons Jr.  Lois Morris, and her parents,  Lonnie and Julia Gibbons,

Serving as Pallbearers will be , Jimmy Crutchfield,  Jerry Crutchfield, Ronnie Pence,  David Helms, Allan Hundley, Mickey Gamble,  Peter Hatcher .

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Park Memorial United Methodist Church.

Joe Cephus Simmons, Jr., 72, of Troy, died at Magnolia Wood Lodge, Sunday, December 18, 2005. Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at 3:00 PM with Reverend Sammy Turner officiating. The honorary pallbearers are the staff of Magnolia Wood Lodge. Survivors include, Sisters, Pauline (Willis) Meeks of Richland, Georgia, Mary (Vernell) Jones of Troy, Brother, Aaron (Edna) Simmons of Phenix City, Several nieces and nephews, Half sisters, Frances Miller of Montgomery, Elizabeth English of Montgomery, Margaret Jones of Orlando, Florida.
