Carrie Mae Morgan Vinson

Graveside services for Carrie Mae Morgan Vinson, 85, of Louisville were held Friday, December 10, 2004 at 11 a.m. from the Louisville Cemetery. The Rev. Donald Phillips and Chaplain Tim Stevenson officiated with Kent Funeral Home of Clayton directing.

She died Wednesday, Dec. 8, at her residence after an extended illness.

Born Sept. 13, 1919, in Coy, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Dave and Nettie Harvell Morgan. She graduated from the University of Montevallo in home economics education in 1942. She taught in the Barbour County School system for 35 years as home economics teacher in Blue Springs and Louisville and elementary teacher and principal at Robinson School. She was a faithful member of the Louisville United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Delta Kappa Gamma, Barbour County Education Association, Alabama Education Association, National Education Association, Alabama Vocational Association, and American Vocational Association. She retired in 1976 while teaching home economics at Louisville High School.

Other than her parents, her in-laws, Porter and Lillie Mae Vinson; two brothers, Henry Clay and Archie Morgan preceded her in death.

Survivors include her kind and loving husband of 60 years, Merrell Vinson, Louisville; a daughter and son-in-law, Vivian Elaine Vinson and Judge Robert Leon Bowden, Louisville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David (Thelma) Morgan, Coy, and Clifford (Johnnie) Morgan, Phelan, Calif.; two sisters, Louise Morgan Madison, Camden; Senora Walker, Excel; two sisters-in-law, Stacie Mae Vinson, Montgomery; and Donna Inez Morgan, Camden; two grandsons, Daniel Vinson Bowden, Tuscaloosa, and Matthew Morgan (Holly) Bowden, Birmingham; a granddaughter, Emily Claire Bowden, Louisville; and three special great-grandchildren, Amelia Claire Bowden, Morgan Louis and Mason Matthew Bowden.
