Mittie Jean McLeod Allen

Services for Mittie Jean McLeod Allen, 66, who died November 9, 2004, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at Greater Saint Paul A.M.E. Church in Troy, with Rev. Samuel Smith and Rev. Bobby B. Cox Jr., officiating.

Burial will follow the service at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery. Visitation was from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, November 15, 2004.

She was born Feb. 28, 1938, in Troy to her parents, Julius G. McLeod and Lottie B. McLeod. She graduated from East Academy High School and worked at Alatex and Cluett Shirtmakers. She was affiliated with Greater St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Troy; and Silver Star Chapter 12, Order of Eastern Star.

Family members include a daughter, Lottie Summerville; a son, Claude Summerville Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Summerville; two grandsons, Jerald Summerville and Saabir Summerville; a granddaughter, Zakaiyah Summerville; six brothers, Robert McLeod, Albert McLeod and Charles McLeod of Newark, N.J., John McLeod of Detroit, Mich., Hubert McLeod of Pineville, S.C., and Victor McLeod of Newark, who preceded her in death; four sisters-in-law, Ruth McLeod and Catherine McLeod of Newark, Patricia McLeod of Detroit, and Shirley McLeod of Pineville, S.C.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be stewards and trustees of Greater St. Paul A.M.E. Church, honorary pallbearers are her brothers; floralbearers are Silver Star Chapter 12, Order of Eastern Star.
