Rushie Mae Starks

Services for Rushie Mae Starks, 92, of 413 Aster Circle in Troy, who died Saturday, April 24, 2004 at Troy Health and Rehabilitation Center, are Wednesday, April 28, at 1 p.m. at Mount Olive #2 Missionary Baptist Church in Banks with the Rev. Stevenson E. Tullis officiating.

Mrs. Starks was born October 10, 1910 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thomas (Mr. and Mrs. Al Sheffield). She joined the Mount Olive #2 Missionary Baptist Church in Banks under the leadership of the Rev. B.T. Edmonson. Mrs. Starks was married to the late Mr. Oscar &uot;Kitty&uot; Starks and to this union, 16 children were born; seven preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Starks is survived by her five daughters, Annie Jewell Grider, Martha Rodgers, Mary C. (James) Davis of Troy, Mary Ann Copeland of Banks and Eva Lou (Hal) Thompson of California; four sons, the Rev. Edward (Catherine) Starks of Perth Amboy, N.J., A.J. Starks of Columbus, Ga., and Oscar Rodgers of Troy; 47 grandchildren; 91 great grandchildren; 30 great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gussie Mae Starks; a devoted nephew, L. Kanner Sheffield of Perth Amboy, N.J.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
