Emma Lee Sheppard Thomas Griffin

Services for Emma Lee Sheppard Thomas Griffin, 84, of Ariton who died Thursday, October 09, 2003 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan after an extended illness will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 12 at Richland Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Andrews officiating.

Burial will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Louisville under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, October 11 at the funeral home. There will be a thirty minute lie in state prior to the service.

Mrs. Griffin was a faithful member of Richland Baptist Church. She was a dearly loved mother and grandmother and will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by three husbands,Winfred Palmer, Bernice Thomas and Dinkens Griffin and a great-grandchild, Tyler Griffin.

Survivors include five daughters and their husbands, Maxine and Bertrum Dubose of Brundidge, Josephine and Billy Windham of Ariton, Geraldine and Fred Hayes and Gloria Jean and Wayne Armstrong both of Ozark and Diane and Bobby Griffin of Macon, Georgia; three step sons, Jimmie, Johnny and Bobby Griffin; three sisters, Mozell Clark of South Carolina, Frances Shipman of Clio and Dorothy Hays of Dothan; three brothers, Howard Sheppard of Columbus, Hayward Sheppard of Dothan and Charlie W. Sheppard, Jr. of Valley; eleven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two step grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Robert Carroll, Richard Dubose, Michael Griffin, Derek Mobley, Keith Windham and Lenard Windham.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Richland Baptist Church.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Louisville, Alabama.

Sarah Lee Mahone

Services for Sarah Lee Mahone, 64, who died Friday, October 03, 2003 at Autumn Aegis Retirement Community following a lengthy illness was at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2003 at Rock West Missionary Baptist Church in Goshen with Rev. W. C. Howard officiating.

Burial was at Rock West Cemetery in Goshen under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home of Troy.

She was born October 06, 1938 in Goshen. She was employed as a Certified Nursing Technician at Bergen Pine Hospital in Englewood before retiring in 1997. She attended the Bethel Church of God in Christ and was a devout Christian and shared her joy and love for the Lord wherever she was. Her favorite song was &uot;In the Garden.&uot; Sarah’s hobbies were reading and being with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie Lee Sr. and Ola L. Mahone and brothers Edmond, Zebedee and James Edward Mahone.

Survivors include sisters and their husbands, Prince Ola and Craig Lester of Ortonville, Michigan, Authereane Ballard of Luverne and Virginia and DeWayne Cannady of Columbus, Georgia; brothers and their wives, Johnny Lee and Rosa Mary, Leroy and Lillie, James Walter &uot;Skip&uot; and Linda and Nathan and Faye Mahone all of Elyria, Ohio, Jimmie Lee and Diane Mahone, Jr. of Goshen,

four aunts, Ruby Saulsberry of Illinois, Johnnie Mae Reed of California and her aunt, confidant and best friend, Dorothy Penalton of Virginia and Bessie Jones of Goshen and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Joe Adams

Services for Joe Adams, 89, of Troy who died Thursday, October 09, 2003 at Edge Regional Medical Center will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 12 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Revs. David Kirby and Red Cotrell officiating.

Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Julia and Bill Golden of Banks, Audrey and Gene Milton and Jo Ann and Terry Messick both of Troy; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; brother and his wife, Tommy and Janice Adams of Troy and a sister, Frances Lindsey of Crestview, Florida.
