PCEDC adds new partner
The Pike County Economic Development Corporation added a new partner in the future growth of the county.
Alabama Electric Cooperative, a wholesale power producer, joined a growing list of private-sector development partners with a contribution of $12,500 Monday.
"A community doesn't grow without economic development," said AEC CEO Greg Smith. "If you want things to happen, you have to make an investment."
The development corporation blends public-sector and private-sector resources to create growth, said Marsha Gaylard, the corporation's president.
"We're ready to take the next step," Smith said. "There are not many communities in south Alabama as far along as (Pike County)."
