The Troy Dixie Belles had no problem getting runners on base Saturday night. But they did have trouble getting them home.

Fortunately for the rest of the team, the Edens came to play.

Leadoff hitter Eden Harris went 3-for-4 on the night with an RBI, and Eden Stamey went 1-for-2 with a triple and two runs scored and an RBI as the Troy Dixie Belles defeated Foley 9-5. Stamey scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning on a wild pitch, and Harris contributed with an RBI single to add some insurance.

Troy simply could not put away the pesky Foley team. Although Autumn Welch pitched a perfect opening three innings (with five strikeouts), Troy only held a 2-0 lead when she left.

Harris led the game off with a single, but she was caught stealing to end any scoring threat in the first.

"We were trying to save Autumn's innings for the rest of the tournament," Troy coach Paul Gilbert said.

Troy's runs came in the second when Stamey hit her RBI triple to score Welch, who led off the inning with a double. Stamey scored on Whitney Merritt's RBI ground out to short stop.

Foley tied the game in the fourth. Tammy Hughes and Chesley Peed scored on

Kate Jackson's RBI double.

Troy answered with another run in the bottom of the inning. Megan Johnson scored when Emily Gilbert drove a hard ground ball past the Foley third baseman with the bases loaded. The error was Foley's second in the inning and gave Troy a 3-2 lead.

Foley tied the game in the sixth when Peed scored on Alicia Salter's RBI single. Jackson was tagged out on the play between home and third, though, to keep Foley from taking the lead.

Troy exploded in the bottom of the sixth inning with six runs to take a 9-3 lead. Stamey led off with a walk and Shuntrice Raybun hit a bunt single. Gilbert walked after Stamey scored on a wild pitch, and harris drove in Raybun for a 5-3 lead.

Lindsey Garner was hit by a pitch, and Heather Snell drove in two with a single. Whitney Johnson, who earned the win by pitching the final three innings, drove in one with an RBI ground out and Welch reached on an error and drove in a run to put Troy ahead by six.

Foley answered in the seventh with runs my Rhea Devilbiss and Sharon Meader, but they were too few to matter.

Troy will face North Chilton today at 8 p.m. in a winner's bracket game.
