The Troy 14-year-old Dixie Boys teams had to overcome a rain delay and 11 tough innings to come up with a 7-5 win over Geneva at the Dixie Boys tournament in Eufaula.

Troy broke the game open in the top of the 11th when Brandon Hill got a base hit and Blake Sanders hit a two-run homer to put Troy on top for good.

"It was a full team effort," head coach Craig Hensley said. "We had good play in the infield, but our outfield kept us in the baseball game."

The outfield made some key plays in the game, including Daniel Farrar throwing out a Geneva baserunner at the plate.

The game was rain delayed with the teams tied at 4-4 on Saturday night. Chad Jordan started and Seth Copeland pitched through the fifth inning before the rain delay.

Copeland resumed pitching duties Monday night, but was relieved by Brandon Hill, who pitched six string innings. Jordan came in in the 11th to close the game for Troy.

Troy is 1-0 in the tournament and faces 1-0 Eufaula tonight at 8 p.m.
