Good Tuesday, Pike County, things are great

Good morning, Pike County. Welcome to another week of growth and prosperity in our community.

Last week we saw yet more examples of why Pike County is such a great place to live, work and play.

The highlight of the week seems to have been the official return of 1670th Transportation Company following their call to active duty for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The Troy school board narrowed its search to just two candidates for superintendent - Linda Felton-Smith and "Mickey" Schuber. Good luck to both in the final selection.

Preparations continued for the Scott Dawson Hope for You Festival with a counselor training session on Monday night, and a mass choir rehearsal Wednesday night. The festival is sure to have a dramatic impact in the county.

The Pike County Economic Development Corporation was joined by Alabama Power as a partner in the county's development effort. The power company made a gave the corporation a grant $10,000.

Sisters Pat Rogers and Geraldine Umbehagen were chosen as two of the 10 Alabama's Beautiful People by Alabama's Bureau of Tourism and Travel.
