Charles Henderson Middle School's Eighth Grade Recognition Program is at 9 a.m.

Senior Circle members will leave for the Montgomery Zoo at 8:30 a.m. from Edge Regional.

There will be a Dutch treat lunch at the Sahara Restaurant at 1 p.m. Drinks and snacks will be provided.

Admission is $3.50 or $4, depending on how many people go.

The 11th annual class reunion for students who attended New Hope School in North Holmes County, Fla., is at 10 a.m. at the Masonic Hall on the old school site south of Highway 2 on 179A, the Geneva-Westville Road.

Blue Springs Youth Fishing Rodeo Kids Fishing Day is from 8-11 a.m. with registration at 7 a.m. Anglers should bring a rod and reel, bait, stringer and ice chest (if desired). There are free refreshments for the kids. For more information call 397-4671.

The Springhill Volunteer Fire Department on Highway 87 in Springhill will have a yard sale beginning at 7 a.m. Spaces are still available and are $5 each.

Share Club of Cullman will host &uot;A Garden from the Heart&uot; tour. The tour hours are from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. The tour features outdoor living, patios, pool areas, gardens, gardening, and green houses as essential elements. Tour sites enhance ecology and artistry to create a unique southern lifestyle. All proceeds from the tour will benefit Hospice of Cullman. Tickets are $10.00 per person, all ages, and may be purchased at Hospital House, The Added Touch and from Share Club Members prior to June 1. On June 1, tickets will be sold at each home on the tour. The Pike County Courthouse is closed today in observance of Jefferson Davis’ birthday.

The CHHS Athletic Booster Club meets at 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria with new Booster Club officers.

The Elizabeth Burford Bashinsky Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy will meet at Julias Restaurant at noon for lunch. A planning meeting at the Colley Senior Complex will follow.

The Troy Public Library is taking orders for a third printing of the &uot;Heritage of Pike County, Alabama.&uot;

The publishing company requires 100 paid orders before publishing a third printing. To order, mail a check or money order to Troy Public Library, Attn: Rebecca McKinley, 300 N. Costs are (including tax and shipping and handling): $76.50 if picked up at the library, $80.60 if mailed to Alabama residents and $75 if mailed to non-Alabama residents. The Troy Public Library along with Friends of the Library is taking contributions for a new building. A larger building is needed so we can meet minimum state and national standards as well as provide better accessibility for children’s programs, the handicapped, adult classes/programs and our growing population of researchers. The Pike County Grief Support Group meets monthly on the first Thursday night of the month unless a holiday falls the first week and then they are held the second Thursday night of the month. All meetings are at 5:30 p.m. at the Pike County Extension Office. Meetings are open to anyone who has lost a loved one or a friend. All meetings are confidential. The Troy Children’s Chorus is a special community chorus for young people aged 8 and above.

The Chorus meets every Thursday afternoon from 4 – 5 p.m. and performs between 8 and 10 times a year.

The Chorus is regularly featured in concerts, including choral programs at Troy State.

They have performed at Troy Elementary, for the Music Study Club Founder’s Day and in a joint concert with the Birmingham Children’s Chorus.

Rehearsals are in the Choral Room in Smith Hall.

The Troy Rotary Club meets at noon each Tuesday at the Troy Country Club.

Troy Children’s Chorus meets Thursday afternoons from 4 – 5 p.m. at the Choral Room in Smith Hall, Troy State University.

The Troy Children’s Chorus is open to boys and girls with unchanged voices from age 8 up.

The Troy Arts Council meets the first Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. in the Community Room of Regions Bank on the square. This meeting is open to the public.

The Pike County Commission wants to remind citizens no weapons or any items that can be construed as weapons are allowed in the Pike County Courthouse. The commission will not be held responsible for those items left with the DSI security guards.

Every Saturday from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m., at the Colley Senior Complex, there will be a Country and Western Dance Band.

Volunteer needed to play the Piano for Monthly Singing at Pike Manor Health Care Center on the third Wednesday of the month from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The Heart of Dixie Chorus and the Troy chapter of Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America invites interested people to join us in song every Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Colley Senior Complex.

The Troy Alzheimer’s Support Group meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room of Troy Bank and Trust Company. The support group offers all types in information: Books, pamphlets and video that we can loan to help others understand and cope with Alzheimer’s Disease.
