The Charles Henderson JV softball team is probably happy Goshen needed an extra game.

The Lady Eagles asked the Lady Trojans to play them today because a couple of teams canceled on them.

The junior varsity Lady Trojans' season would have ended today against Northview, but fortunately for the Lady Trojans, they have another chance to end their season on a good note.

Charles Henderson blew a 4-2 lead in the seventh inning and lost 6-5 in eight innings. Northview scored two runs on three errors in the seventh to tie the game and one more unearned two more unearned runs in the eighth.

"We shouldn't have lost that game," head coach Ronnie Baker said. "We committed too many errors."

The Lady Trojans committed a total of six errors in the game, but the biggest ones came in the seventh. Northview batted with one out and none on base, but Charles Henderson short stop Lindsey Garner threw the routine ground ball into right field and allowed the runner to reach.

The next Northview batter singled up the middle, but centerfielder Shuntrice Rayburn mishandled the ball in the outfield and allowed the runners to reach second and third. Northview cut the lead to 4-3 when third baseman Brook Sessions overthrew the pitcher trying to get the ball back to her.

Sessions threw out the next batter at first to record the second out, and first baseman Heather Snell threw perfectly to catcher Ashley Simmons to tag the runner heading home, but Simmons lost the ball when the runner kicked it out of her glove and the game was tied.

Northview added two runs in the eighth, and Charles Henderson scored one in the bottom of the eighth. But the Lady Trojans could not overcome the lead and lost.

The Lady Trojans struck early in the game, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning before Northview even recorded an out.

However, Charles Henderson did not score again until the eighth inning. The Lady Trojans loaded the bases in the second inning but failed to score. They also appeared to score a run when Snell slid in safely at home in the fifth inning but was called out.
