Charles Henderson pitcher Brittany Carlisle was slightly disappointed after her performance Tuesday night against Eufaula.

Although she allowed only one run, unearned, on three hits in an 11-1 win, Carlisle wanted a little more.

"I was hoping it would be a no-hitter, or a shutout," Carlisle said. "But it wasn't. That's the way things go sometimes."

The Lady Tigers' lone run came in the second inning when Lady Trojan second baseman Ashton Spann's fielding error allowed Brittany Phillips to score from third. Otherwise, Carlisle sat down 18 of the 23 batters she faced en route to the Trojan route.

"We are young," Eufaula coach Rebecca Simmons said. "We have a lot of seventh and eighth graders out there. They played well, even though the score did not indicate that."

Charles Henderson scored in every inning Tuesday night and forced an early finish to the game by taking a 10-run lead in the sixth. The mercy rule was invoked at that point.

"I wasn't worried about Brittany," Henderson coach Steve Haug said. "She's our most consistent pitcher.

"I was very pleased with out offense. We had been leaving runners on base and tonight we scored in every inning. We did a good job of hitting behind the runners."

Carlisle was happy to receive plenty of run support.

"It makes it a lot easier when we score that many runs," Carlisle said.

The Trojan advancement started early. After Carlisle pitched a perfect top half of the first inning, all nine Trojan batters batted in the bottom of the inning.

Clair Goodson lead off with a bloop single to left-center and Spann walked. Samantha Johnson and Heather Snell hit back-to-back singles and Goodson scored the game's first run. Rachael Spurlin reached on a fielder's choice to short stop and Spann scored on the play. Johnson was tagged out running to third.

Andrea Ellis walked to load the bases for Allie Park. Park drove the ball to deep left field and drove in two runs to make the game 4-0.

"We did a good job of hitting spots tonight," Haug said. "Their outfielders were playing deep and -I don't know whether it was intentional or not -we told (the players) that and we hit a lot of those bloop singles."

After Eufaula scored its lone run in the top of the second, Charles Henderson drove in two more runs in the bottom of the inning to push the lead to 6-1. The Trojans added a run in the third and one in the fourth before putting up two in the fifth to make the score 10-1.

Laura Wesley hit the Trojans' lone extra-base hit with a one-out double in the sixth and Natalie Patterson drove her in with a single and the game ended with Patterson on first base.

Goodson led the Trojans at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. She also stole three bases.

Spurlin spurred the Lady Trojans with three RBI on 2-for-4 batting.
