Mavis Frances Culpepper

Mavis Frances Culpepper, 67, of Enterprise, died Friday, March 21, 2003 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

Services will be held Sunday, March 23, 2003 at Zebulon Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. J.C. Turner and the Rev. E.T. Horton officiating.

Visitation was at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy Saturday, March 22, 2003 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

There will be a one-hour lie-in-state at the church prior to the service.

Mrs. Culpepper was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Lee &uot;Pete&uot; Culpepper and her parents Elmer and Luanza Allen.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Eleanor and Rex Andress of Enterprise and daughter Debbie Edwards of Banks; grandchildren Tonya Ray, Dana Edwards, John Dunn, Daniel Edwards, Dusting Edwards and Trey Andress; great-grandchildren Raeleigh Beaty, Teralyn Dunn, Andrew Nolin, Tyler Dunn and Kyle Ray; two sisters and brothers-in-law Leona and J.C. Turner of Troy and Dixie and Hillery Shehane of Brundidge; two brothers and sisters-in-law Charles and Evelyn Allen and David and Bertha Allen, all of Banks; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers include Trey Andress, Lee Allen Beaty, John Dunn, Daniel Edwards, Dustin Edwards and Steven Ray.

Mrs. Culpepper will be buried at Sandfield Cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be given to a favorite charity.

Donald Gary Stinson

Donald Gary Stinson, 50, of Brundidge, died Friday, March 21, 2003 at the Baptist Medical Center.

Services were held at the Dillard Funeral Home in Troy on Monday, March 24, 2003 at 11 a.m.

The Rev. John Stone officiated.

Visitation was at the funeral home Sunday, March 23, 2003 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Mr. Stinson was preceded in death by his parents John D. and Dorothy Stinson.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Hill of Brundidge; sons James Hill of Ft. Walton and Chris Hill of Brundidge; daughter Linda Hill of Brundidge; sisters Brenda Lightsey of Doe Run, Ga., and Debbie Foreman of Bartow, Fla.; and three children Bubba, Jay and Nikki all of Florida.

Pallbearers include D.J. Cannon, Matt Dyess, Donald Hill, James Hill, Ricky Massey, Jerry Wayne Mckenzie, Jerl Senn and Ralph Milner.

Mr. Stinson was buried at Springhill Cemetery.

Marie McLellan Faulk

Marie McLellan Faulk, 93, of Samson and Magnolia Wood Lodge of Troy, died Saturday, March 22, 2003 in Troy following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 23, at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Samson with Dr. J. Chris Adams and the Rev. Ralph Aaron officiating.

Burial will follow in the Travelers Rest Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.

Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Mrs. Faulk will be placed in the church one hour before time for services.

The family suggest that in lieu of flowers, honorariums may be made to the Travelers Rest Cemetery Fund, 4 N. Canal Street, Samson, Ala., 36477, or to Enterprise Hospice of Troy.

Mrs. Faulk was born in Capps Station to the late Alice Lucy and Willard McLellan.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Samson and attended the Community Church of Sana Rosa Beach in Florida.

She was a member of the Garden Club and Bridge Club of Samson.

She and her late husband, Judge J.P. Faulk Jr. were married in the Brock Hotel in Samson on Feb. 14, 1931.

They retired to Jolly Bay in 1977.

Mrs. Faulk was an avid fisherman.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Willa Dean Will, and two grandsons Jim Ryan and Steuart Faulk.

Mrs. Faulk is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Alice Ryan of Prattville and June and Gene M. Schroeder of Troy; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tim S. and Cornelia Faulk of Geneva, Johnny M. and Mary Jean Faulk of Samson and Joseph E. and Peggy T. Faulk of Troy; one sister, Dorothy M. Bramor of Capps; eight grandchildren, Pratt Faulk, June Ryan, Traci Simpson, Vikki Pridgen, Gene Shroder, Brooke F. Cobb, Andy Faulk and Virginia Faulk; and nine great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.

A Memorial Service for Larry Ray Reeves, 55, of Troy who died Sunday March 23, 2003 at Edge Regional Medical Center will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday March 25, 2003 at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Revs. Lavon Davis and Leslie Allen officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday March 25, 2003 at the funeral home.

Mr. Reeves was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Erica Marie Pattie.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Frances Reeves of Troy; son, Larry Shayne Reeves of Troy; daughter, Teresa Ann Pattie of Tennessee; grandson, Daniel Josiah Pattie of Tennessee; brothers, Billy Reeves of Daleville and Donald Reeves of Troy; sister, Dorothy Reeves of Troy; mother, Ouida Reeves of Troy and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clyde Baxter, Sr.

Services for Clyde Baxter, Sr., 74, of Troy who died Friday March 21, 2003 at Edge Regional Medical Center in Troy after an extended illness will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday March 25, 2003 at Pea River Presbyterian Church with Rev. James Pitts officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Keahey Funeral Home of Clio.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday March 24, 2003 at the funeral home.

Mr. Baxter will lie-in-state one hour prior to service time at the church.

He was born in Barbour County on January 27, 1929 to the late John Lowery and Annie Hays Baxter. At the age of 17, he joined the Navy. Following his graduation from Auburn University, he moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida where he was instrumental in the early design and construction of the Kennedy Space Center.His employment with Pan American World Services allowed him extensive

travel to such places as Saudi Arabia and Jordan where he helped design and build commercial airports. He retired and settled in Troy after 35 years of service to Pan American. Along the way, he and his wife of 53 years had 3 sons. Mr. Baxter was a Member of the American Legion and was an Elder of Pea River Presbyterian Church near Clio.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Baxter of Troy; 3 sons and their wives, C. Edward, Jr. and Donna Baxter of League City Texas, Richard Alan and Sharon Baxter of Canton, MI and Bruce Oliver and Cheryl Baxter of Deer Park, Texas; two brothers and their wives, Earl and Elise Baxter of Clio and

John L. and Lorene J. Baxter of Waco, GA;

2 sisters, Laura Meadows of Atlanta, Georgia and Anzolette Harden of Swainsboro, Georgia; eleven grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Baxter, Michael Kabboord, Larry Harrison, Kevin Adams and Joe Frank Baxter.

Ocie Shiver Chapman

Ocie Chapman, (Mrs. Henry), 102, passed away peacefully at Edge Regional Medical Center during the early morning hours of March 22, 2003. Mrs. Chapman was born in Tennille, Pike County, Alabama July 14, 1900 and had resided in Brundidge since 1957. Previous residences were in Troy and Abbeville.

Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by her parents, Joel Jackson Shiver and Shady Senn Shiver; husband, Henry Chapman; daughters, Thelma Smallwood of Uvalde, Texas,

and Lorene Railey of Columbus, Georgia and a grandson Acey E. Thompson, Jr. of Troy. She leaves a living legacy through a daughter, Inez Thompson of Troy and a son Richard and his wife Shirley of Lynn Haven, Florida; granddaughters, Lynette Stewart, Alicia Aldridge and husband Garry and Sharon Porter; grandsons, Jim Railey and wife Cam, Larry Smallwood and wife, Renee, Brent Chapman, Rick and Kathy Chapman and Todd Chapman; twelve great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday March 24, 2003 at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday March 25th at Hamilton Cross Roads Church of Christ, Hwy 231 South, Brundidge, Al. where Mrs. Chapman

has been a very active member and supporter all of her life. Ministers Doug Williams and Chris Barnett will officiate. Mrs. Chapman will lie-in-state at the church thirty minutes prior to the service. Pallbearers are the grandsons and great-grandsons. Interment will be in the cemetery adjacent to the church. Flowers are welcome, as are contributions to Hamilton Cross Roads Church

as a memorial to Mrs. Chapman.
