Services for Robert Gary

"Bubba" Kennedy, 61, of Troy who died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at Edge Regional Medical Center in Troy will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Greater St. Paul AME Church with the Rev. Samuel Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at the funeral home.

Mr. Kennedy was born March 8, 1941, in Pike County. His parents were Willie Kennedy and Warnie Mae Kennedy. He was employed by Pinckard Vault and Henry Plumbing. He was a graduate of Academy Street School and attended Greater St. Paul AME Church. Mr. Kennedy enjoyed socializing with his family.

Survivors include two sisters, Olivia Pearson and Joyce Suddith both of Troy and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers and floralbearers will be friends of the family.

Eloise McCoy Archer

Graveside services for Eloise McCoy Archer, 79, who died at her home Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003 will be at 2 p.m. Saturday Feb. 8, 2003, at Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy with Father James Dean officiating.

Burial will be under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Archer was the wife of the late Coach John Archer. She is a native of Marvel, Ark., and has resided in Troy since 1956.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jack McCoy of Rancho Mirage, Calif.

Survivors include four sons and their wives, Jack Archer of Gulf Shores, Pat Archer of Alexandria, Va., Michael and Chandy Bozeman Archer of Wetumpka and Tim and Elizabeth Cole Archer of Montgomery; three grandchildren, Landon Archer, Keenan Archer and John Cole Archer and a brother, Dale McCoy of Benton, Ark.

Pallbearers will be Dr.Rudy Argenti, Mr. Dick Lynch, Coach Don Maestri, Mr.Chuck Norris, Mr.Mark McNair and Mr. Bradford Cole.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Rudy Argenti, Mrs. Fran Hood, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Norris and Mrs. Sis Young.

The family request memorials be made to John A. Archer Scholarship Fund, TSU Foundation, C/O Linda Deramus, 253 Adams Administration Building, Troy, AL 36083.

Stephen D. Parker

Stephen D. Parker, 81, retired Director of Purchasing at Troy State University, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Frances "Frankie" Parker.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy, (431 US Highway 231, 334-566-1720) with Dr. Ed Walter and Gene Ducote officiating and full military honors will be administered. Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to the First Baptist Church of Troy Building Fund or the American Cancer Society, or your favorite charity.

Stephen Parker was a decorated Air Force Chief Warrant Officer-4 having retired after 28 years of service. He was proud to be a part of the creation of NORAD (North American Air Defense System) at Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs in the early 60s. He was active in Troy Country Club as an avid golfer, board member (President 1 term) and "self proclaimed unofficial keeper of the courses". He was instrumental in facilitating the creation of the Davis Theater for Performing Arts in Montgomery, Alabama.

Other survivors include his son, Ron Parker of Jacksonville, Alabama, a daughter, June Duncan (and husband Bruce) of Tallahassee, Fla., a brother, Pete Parker of Tarrant; a granddaughter, Carlee Parker of Birmingham; a grandson, Adam Duncan of Tallahassee and an "unofficial" adopted son, Joe McLendon (and wife, Candy) of Montgomery, Alabama.
