Forgive the Charles Henderson boys' team if it is a little tired.

The Trojans did not get finished playing Tuesday night until late. Very late.

In fact, they did not return from their trip to Barbour County until nearly midnight.

The reason? Double overtime.

That's right, the boys' team needed 40 minutes (32 regulation, eight overtime) to survive against Barbour County 91-86.

"I think games like that are good for a team," Trojan coach Carl Hollis said. "When you get to area tournament play, those teams who had to fight from behind or had to play extra long have an advantage."

The game began late, around 8:30 p.m. That meant by the time the teams played extra basketball, the Trojans pulled back into the school around 11:30 or later.

Lakory Daniels led the Trojans with 43 points, a new career high.

The Trojans were poised to win the game in regulation, but Barbour County hit a three-pointer at the end.

"We should have won it before overtime," Hollis said. "But we let a boy get a wide open three-point shot."

Barbour County built the big lead in the first overtime, leading by as many as five points. Daniels hit a jump shot to tie the game at the buzzer and force the second overtime.

Foul trouble got Barbour County in trouble in the second overtime as two of its starters fouled out. The Trojans pulled away with free throws to win by five.

"We should have won in regulation," Hollis said. "Of the 41 free throws we attempted, we hit 26. If we had hit our free throws, we would have won by eight or 10. They kept fouling at the end of regulation to get back in the game."

Charles Henderson will play at Escambia County Friday night in a return to area play.
