Mattie Lou Helms

Mattie Lou Helms, 83, Pike Manor Health Care Center, Troy, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at Pike Manor.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Park with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, from 6-8 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

She was employed at Troy Linen for more than 40 years as the Rental Supervisor.

She is survived by a sister, Catherine Austin of Josie; several nieces and nephews, including Raymond and Cherry Ledford, Myra Brooks, Wyatt and Diane Austin, James Austin, Lyndon Austin and Jackie and Kemper Johnston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thelton "Round Boy" Helms.

Mary L. Dicks

Services for Mary L. Dicks, 74, of Pine Level who died Sunday August 11, 2002 at South Haven Nursing Home will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday August 14, 2002 at Pine Level Baptist Church with Pastor Bob Anders officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Leak Memory

Chapel of Montgomery.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday August 13, 2002 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dicks was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis E. Dicks, Sr. and her brothers Willie and James Campbell.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Jewel Stough, Eddie (Sue) Kirk, Wayne (Mary Ann) Dicks, Mary Lee (Scotty) Brooks, Dennis E. (Margie Ann) Dicks, Jr., Elaine (Nathan) Fannin, Gayle (Ray) Wren and Curry Dicks; three sisters, Jeneal Roton, Barbara Jean Sloan and Sara (Al) Cornett; two brothers, Henry Campbell and Sonny (Jimmy R) Campbell; nineteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Billy Stough, Doug Stough, Timothy Dicks, Joe Dicks, Jim Dicks, Bryan Dicks, Alan Fannin and Clint Dicks.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pine Level Baptist Church.1

John Sanders Richburg

Services for John Sanders Richburg, 80, of Abbeville who died unexpectedly at his home Saturday August 10, 2002 will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday August 13, 2002 at the First Baptist Church of Abbeville with Revs. Teddy Ward, Ray S. Reiley and Pastor Ben McKee officiating.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the William Carter Cemetery near Goshen under the direction of Holman-Abbeville Mortuary of Abbeville.

Mr. Richburg was born in Pike County in the Henderson community, the son of the late Ralph Coston Richburg and Exa Mae Mount Richburg. He attended Troy State University and also Auburn University. Mr. Richburg lived in Abbeville since 1949 where he was a member of The First Baptist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. In earlier years, he had been active in the Boy Scouts of America and also served as the official weather

observer for the U. S. Weather Service for Abbeville. Mr. Richburg was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Richburg was retired as the Soil Conservation Technician for Henry County with the U.S.D.A. Soil Conservation Service.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Gene Haskins; brother, Joe Coston Richburg and a granddaughter-in-law, Diane Price.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Annie Ruth Grissette Richburg of Abbeville, two daughters and their husbands, Martha McKee and Pastor Ben McKee of Elba and Bonnie and Gene Haskins of Anderson S.C.;son and his wife, John Sanders and Nancy Riley Richburg of Grove Hill; sister, Mary Dorothy Flowers of Goshen; seven grandchildren, John S, Richburg, III, Jason Allen Richburg, Carl Lee Price, Jr., Gary Thomas Price, Kimberly Ruth Normand, Kathryn McKellar and Ben L. McKee and twelve great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons and great-grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
