GREENVILLE – A pair of Dothan pitchers held Troy bats to only two hits over six innings, as the Dothan National Reds defeated the Troy Nationals 2-0 in the championship game of the Dixie Youth League district tournament, Friday night in Greenville.

Casey Weston worked hard for Troy, holding Dothan scoreless through three innings. However, with two outs in the fourth inning, Dothan rallied for two runs. After Weston struck out the first two batters, an errant throw to first base and a walk allowed Danny Wilder and Turtle Benton to reach safely. The two later scored, with Ross Fuller hitting a single to drive in the final of the two runs.

Troy, during the meantime, could not stage a threat, as Ben Drake and Fuller combined to hold Troy in check. Drake worked the first two innings, with Fuller working the last four. Drew Vaughan singled for Troy in the first inning, Sam Jones singled in the second, and that would be the only two Troy hits on the night.
