Greg Davis, a two-year starter at Bossier Parish Community College in Bossier City, La., has signed with the Troy State men’s basketball program.

"The number one reason why I chose Troy State was their style of play," Davis said. "The fast-break offense is what I wanted to play, and I feel that TSU’s system suits my game as well."

Davis, a 6-foot-1 native of Bradley, Ark., led Bossier Parish to a 23-10 record last season, averaging 19.3 points per game and 4.4 assists.

He had three 30-point games, including a career-high 37 points against Delgado Junior College of New Orleans.

He was named first-team all-conference following the season after making the all-tournament team during the regional playoffs. He also was named to the all-tournament team at the Three Rivers Classic in Missouri.

"Greg is a point guard who reminds me a lot of Robert Rushing," said assistant coach David Felix, who brought Davis to Troy State. "He is extremely quick for a player his size.

He has great ball-handling skills and can score when needed.

Greg has a solid grasp of the point guard position and knows how to win."

A three-year starter at Bradley High School, Davis led the team to a 72-7 record, including a 34-1 record his senior year, falling in the state semifinals.

That year, he led the team in scoring, averaging 32 points per game, while dishing out an average of nine assists.

He also averaged 11 rebounds and four steals per contest.

He was named first-team all-state his junior and senior seasons and was named conference MVP and first-team all-region following his senior season.

He was named the Texarkana Area "Player of the Year" his last two seasons and also was chosen to play in the Arkansas High School All-Star Game.

"He is a coach’s dream," said Bradley head coach Benny Ray Harris, Davis’ high school coach.

"Greg was the best player I ever coached, not only because of how good he was, but how he made the others around him better.

A player like Greg Davis comes by once in a lifetime for a high school coach."

Troy State head coach Don Maestri looks for Davis to be a key to the Trojans’ success in defending their 2002 Atlantic Sun Conference title.

"Greg is the prototype point guard," Maestri said. "He can run the show and has excellent court vision.

He can push the ball up the floor as well as pull up and knock down the three.

He has an excellent sense of the point guard position and knows when to pass and when to score.

It is our experience in the A-Sun that the teams in the hunt have good point guards, and Greg Davis fits that bill."
