The Steve Flower’s senatorial campaign was dealt another blow Monday when the Alabama Republican Party decided not to reconsider the disqualified candidate’s case.

Last Monday the party’s candidate committee voted 10-8 to disqualify Flowers after it was decided he had not fulfilled residency requirements to be eligible in June’s primary.

On Friday, Flowers had petitioned the party to reconsider their decision and possibly reach another decision.

According to Alabama Republican Party Executive Director Mary Conners, committee members selected to let their decision stand.

"So far we have been able to reach 16 committee members and it is 15-1 against reconsidering," Conners said Monday afternoon. "Therefore we are going to inform Mr. Flowers that our decision will stand."

Flowers had been hoping the committee would decide otherwise, allowing him the opportunity to present their case to the entire committee.

During last Monday’s 10-8 vote, three members were not present, whose votes may have turned the decision in Flowers’ favor.

Also on Monday, Montgomery Circuit Court Judge Charles Price heard testimony in Flowers’ push to have state ballots prevented from being released without his name.

Price also heard testimony from opponents and will reportedly release his decision at around noon today.

Flowers has also continued with his suit against Montevallo resident Carlton LeMond, who filed the initial complaint with the state Republican Party and SDI Inc., the private investigation firm that collected information and filed a report his residency. Flowers contends the firm collected the information by breaking into his home.
