at Charles Henderson High School office and seating is limited so it’s a good idea to get tickets early. Last year’s production of "Alice in Wonderland" sold out all three nights.

Karen Butler, drama club president, said the plot of the story revolved around the Blachman’s Boarding House and the zany characters who inhabit the home in the year 1916.

"Emily Blachman got the idea of opening their 11 bedroom, one bathroom house to boarder when it became obvious that her husband’s entrepreneurships would not bring in a stable income," Karen said. "Each one of the boarders comes to Tucson, Arizona, for the Blachman’s southern hospitality. Each character brings a unique story to tell."

Lydia Yancey, a senior cast member, said she liked the play because of the very interesting and diverse character who are always doing quirky things. Mrs.

Lynch, a lady of beauty, spends hours each day pampering herself in the only bathroom. Mr. Willard, a suspected German spy, sells can openers and keeps up with the goings on of the war. An old prospector and a yodeling mother-in-law also add to the comedy.

"The production of "Chicken Every Sunday" would not be possible without the help of all the people involved on and off the set," Karen said. "Our drama teacher, Darlene Jennings directs the action on stage and she likes the play because it is the cute and entertaining story about this family who is trying to make the best of their father’s creative endeavors, which he calls work."

Jennings is assisted by student director Jennifer Cooper who helps with the creative development of the storyline.

""I like the play because it embraces human nature and shows people how they really are – suspicious, comfortable and beautiful," Jennifer said.

The set was designed by senior drama club member, Rachel Jennings, who transformed the stage into the Blachman’s living room.

The set builders were Reed Liles and Jacob Fannin, both juniors.

"Reed and Jacob put in long hours assembling the pieces needed to modify the stage," Karen said. "Backstage, Sarah Booth continues her great job as stage manager, organizing the actors and props as she has done for four years. Tripp Roddy, a junior manages the lighting and sound this year."

The actors costumes were furnished by the TSU costume department under the direction of John Patton.

"As costume manager, Ebony Williams, will help assist the actors with their costumes the night of the play," Karen said. "House manager, Vimal Patel, will greet the audience and assist the patrons to their seats."

During intermission, Karen said the drama department has planned a real treat for the audience.

A local barbershop quartet, the Dixie Cutups with Jim Wadowick, Scott Flowers, Dianne Flowers and Perry Green, will perform during the Monday, Friday and Saturday performances.

"The Troy Arts Council has generously donated money to the drama department as well as 34 local businesses," Karen said. "Parents and teachers have also contributed time and effort into the success of the play.

"The drama department gives a hearty thanks for all their contributions."
