The offense turned out 12 hits, led by Mindy Porep going 4-for-4 and Erin Flater going 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

"Our offense was really clicking against Columbia," said Troy State head coach Melanie Davis.

"We got some really timely hits and made some solid plays in the field to backup Ashley."

In the second game, the Lady Trojans held on to beat Wisconsin-Green Bay 3-2.

TSU pounded out 11 hits, but left 12 runners on base. Tamra Howren went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs to lead the Lady Trojans. Flater also went 2-for-4 with Molly Homer going 2-for-3.

Cassie Wilkenson picked up the win, improving her record to 10-1. Kim Unkenholz threw a scoreless seventh to pick up her first save of the year and the fourth of her career.

"We got a lot of hits in the second game, but we didn’t have many clutch hits," Davis said.

"Cassie and Kim pitched really well and our defense really improved today.

We’re getting better, but we’re not where we want to be yet."

The Lady Trojans are back in action on Wednesday as they travel to face Birmingham-Southern in a doubleheader.

First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
