Troy police search for armed robber

Troy police were searching Wednesday for the man who robbed a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant late Tuesday night.

The robbery occurred about 9 p.m., when employees were in the process of closing the restaurant, according to a statement from Police Chief Anthony Everage. The suspect ­ clothed in a ski mask, dark nylon jacket, dark pants and a baseball cap ­ threw a brick through the door of the business, located at the corner of South Three Notch Street and U.S. 231.

and ordered all the employees to the back of the building," said Sgt. Benny Scarbrough, public information officer for the police department.

The suspect took an undetermined amount of cash and fled on foot, he said.

One customer was in the business during the robbery, but no one was injured.

The suspect is described as being between 6-feet and 6-feet, 3-inches tall and weighing 170 pounds to 190 pounds.

Police are asking anyone who may have been in the vicinity of South Three Notch or U.S. 231 Tuesday evening to report suspicious activity to the police department, 566-0500, or the Secret Witness Line, 566-5555.
