For the first time, the Troy State University art faculty has exchanged work with another university for a cooperative exhibit.

The diverse work of the art faculty of Alabama State University is on display for a six-weeks show at TSU’s Malone Gallery as part of this unique cooperative exhibit between the two universities.

The show, "Alabama State – Troy State Joint Exhibit," opened March 4 and will continue through April 18.

"We have had a contract with the Alabama State art faculty for a long time," said Pam Allen, director of Malone Gallery. "That contract evolved into an idea to put together an exchange exhibit which offers unique opportunities for both universities."

Allen said the exchange exhibit

promotes good will between Alabama State and TSU and provides additional exposure for the TSU art faculty and, also, allows them to see what is going on at other universities.

The show features the drawings, paintings, pottery and sculpture of the visual and theater arts faculty at Alabama State University, Steven Cappelli, Jackie Webber, Dr. William Colvin, Dr. Christopher Greenman and Cleve Webber.

At the same time, the artwork of the Art and design faculty at TSU is on display at the Warren Britt Gallery at Alabama State.

TSU art faculty participating in the exhibit at the Warren Britt Gallery at Alabama State are Pam Allen, Bob Joslin, Jerry Johnson, Sergei Shillabeer, Larry Percey, Duane Paxson, Ed Noriega and artist-in-residence Nall Hollis.

A reception for the Alabama State faculty is planned for 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 12 at Malone Gallery. The event is open to the public and free of charge.

"We invite everyone to meet the Alabama State faculty on March 12 and enjoy this unique show," Allen said.

Malone Gallery is open 8 a.m. until noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
