The Troy State women’s tennis team swept the singles competition, winning all but one match in two sets, in defeating Southern Mississippi, 7-0, on Thursday at the Jimmy Lunsford Tennis Center.

Luisa Lopez defeated USM’s Shawny Price, 3-6, 6-5, 7-6, at the No. 1 position in the only singles match to go three sets. Carolina Aravena, Sally Linden, Laura Alarcon and Marcia Lynn Van der Linde also posted singles victories for the Lady Trojans, who improved to 8-1 overall and won their fourth straight match.

USM defaulted at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles due to a personnel shortage.
