George Hamil Johnson

Services for George Hamil Johnson, 88, of Troy, who died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, in Montgomery, will be at 2 p.m. today at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Dr. Don Hatcher and the Rev. Greg Aman officiating.

Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Henderson Johnson of Troy; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Linda Tompkins of Troy, Kathryn and Charlie Nonnenmann of Troy, Betty and Buddy Hobbs of Troy and Delores and Herman Motes of Troy; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Anne Johnson of Troy; 17 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Johnson; a great-granddaughter, Kelsy Folmar; nine brothers; and three sisters.

Carrie Mae Rodgers

Services for Carrie Mae Rodgers, 89, of Troy, who died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Edge Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at Bethal Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. L.C. McMillian officiating.

Burial will be in the Mount Gilead Cemetery under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. today.

Mrs. Rodgers was born Jan. 15, 1913, in Pike County, the daughter of Iola McGrady. She was a domestic worker and a Baptist who enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include two daughters, Bessie K. Pinkney of Troy and Mary Louise Wilkes of Detroit; one son, John Rodgers Jr. of Detroit; one sister, Willie Mae Collins of Troy; one uncle, Senwell "Sammie" McGrady of Troy; one sister-in-law, ruth Rodgers of Troy; a loving and devoted niece, Naomi Barnes of Troy; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
