Lady Trojans take fifth at Lady Eagle Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss.

­ The Troy State women’s golf team finished fifth in its first tournament of the spring. The Lady Trojans fired a two-day score of 654 at the Southern Miss Lady Eagle Invitational hosted at the Timberton Golf Club in Hattiesburg, Miss., to claim the top-five finish.

TSU was led by junior Tracy Tidwell with a two-day score of 161 to finish in a tie for 13th place with Jacksonville State’s Florencia Moran and Sam Houston State’s Raman Saran. Tracy Tidwell finished the first round in a tie for 20th.

Junior Allyson Wills shot a two-day score of 162 to finish the tournament in a tie for 16th. Senior Jenelyn Tidwell fired scores of 81 and 85 to finish tied for 28th with teammate Lori Garrett with a two-day score of 166.

The Jacksonville State Lady Gamecocks shot a 306 in the second round to claim first place. JSU finished the tournament with a score of 628.

North Texas finished in second place with a score of 631.

The Lady Trojans will compete in the Southern Shootout held in Birmingham on Feb. 18 and 19.

The men’s team will open its season Feb. 11 at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Classic in Gulfport, Miss.
