Jackson was elected to the Brundidge City Council in 1988 and re-elected in 1992.

He has served on the board of directors and as past president of the Brundidge Country Club and presently serves on the board of directors of the Southeast Alabama Gas District, on which he served as president in 1997. Jackson is an active member of the Advisory Council on Aging for the South Central Alabama Development Commission and served as council chairman.

Jackson, who is married to the former Linda Chambers of Brundidge, is a member of Brundidge United Methodist Church. They have a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Scott Gilreath and two granddaughters, Emily and Ashley, who live in Montgomery.

He said he has a "sincere interest and concern for the growth and development of Brundidge" and believes being retired and years of public service gives him the time, experience and dedication to work with the mayor and council, the Brundidge Business Association and other organizations to provide the best for Brundidge and the community.
