CHHS announces orientation

The end of summer for Troy high school students is coming to an end.
A week from Monday, that fact will hit home when freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors at Charles Henderson High School attend orientation for the 2000-2001 school year.
Orientation will be held July 31 in the CHHS cafeteria. The schedule is as follows: seniors, 8:30-9:30 a.m.; juniors, 10-11 a.m.; sophomores, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and freshmen, 2-3 p.m.
During orientation, students will receive class schedules and have the opportunity to rent lockers and get parking permits.
In order to get class schedules on that day, students need to have already taken care of registration, said principal Linda Felton.
"I want to encourage students new to the Troy area now is the time for them to come in and register," Felton said.
New students will need to present a copy of their birth certificate, Social Security card and records from the last school he or she attended.
All students must have residency affidavits and updated immunization records.
Other than some construction work, things will be the same as last year when the first bell rings, Felton said.
School will begin at 7:50 a.m. and dismiss at 3:10 p.m.
"We are excited about the beginning of our school year," Felton said.
She said faculty and staff are taking precautions to ensure the safety of students will the re-roofing project continues
