The Goshen Eagles football team will put all their hard work on show today at Goshen Field at 7 p.m.

After a long spring of hard and very hot days, the Eagles have finished up their spring practice days and will put on a scrimmage that will face off players off the 2000 roster with the addition of this year’s graduating seniors.

For second-year head football coach Joe Thornton this is a chance for he and his coaches to see how far the group of players they have been putting through the ringer the past couple of weeks have come.

"We mainly just want to get a chance to look at all the kids in action," Thornton said. "This always lets us simulate a game-like situation and see how they react. They will get to implement what we have been working on in practice and this leads into the fall letting them see what we’re trying to do out there."

The team will go through the controlled scrimmage with out special teams with the No. 1 defense squaring off against last-years’ seniors and the rest of the team in the first quarter and the No. 1 offense in the second. The same format will take place in the third and fourth quarters. Points will be issued to the sides for scoring and for being able to make a stand on defense.

The word on the minds of most of the Goshen coaches during the scrimmage will be depth. They hope to iron out all the problems they might have and figure out just how deep the team goes at each position by seeing the team at full speed.

"Another big thing is this allows us to work on our depth on both sides of the ball," the coach said. "It gives me and the rest of the coaches a chance to see where we stand. It just lets us know what we can do on offense and defenses. We also want to give the fans a good show and let them know how hard our boys have been working during the spring."

Price of admission is $4 for adults and $3 for children. Concessions will be sold at the game.
