The Dixie Minor Mariners continued their dominance of league improving their record to an undefeated 6-0.

They defeated the Angels 12-2 on Saturday and took it to the Cardinals 7-3 Tuesday.

In Saturday’s game, Rickey Goodwin allowed the Angels to jump out to a 2-0 lead at the start of the game, but was able to shut them down the rest of the way, blanking them the next four innings.

Goodwin got plenty of run support also as the Mariners got two in the second, eight in the third and a couple in the fifth and final inning. Clifton Brady and Goodwin had great days at the plate, each going 3-for-3.

In Tuesday’s 7-3 win over Cardinals, the game was dominated by some strong pitching by both sides as well as some great defensive plays.

Douglas Hawkins had four infield outs with no errors for the Mariners while Jace Colley had a strong game at the plate for the Cards. Casey Weston pitched a great game for the Cards, but picked up the loss as Brady saw action on the mound to notch his fourth win of the season.

DIXIE BOYS

Mets 19, Rockies 2

Will Fuller and Jake Kitchens got all the run support he needed on the mound for the Mets as his team ousted the Rockies for their fourth win of the season.

The Mets scored in every inning, including a 10-run explosion in the fifth as their defense and four-hit performance by the Rockies at the plate held them to only two runs. Fuller and Kitchens combined on the mound.

Morgan Sanders and Tyson Pugh both had three hits in the game to lead the Mets while Cody Miller and Kyle Golden each had a couple. Blake Phelps, David Folmar and Kendal Moore also had hits.

Kevin Brown, Daniel Hightower, Adam Motes and Nic Session each had hits for the Rockies.

DIXIE ANGELS

Lugnuts 16, Renegades 9

After giving up five runs in the bottom of the first, the Lugnuts bottled up the Renegades on defense and were able to score in every inning en route to a 16-9 win.

The Lugnuts tied the score on a two-run homer by Kasee Carter in the top of the third then got a grand slam by Keyani Foster in the fourth and put six on the board in the fifth to pull out the victory.

Shay Hall did the work on the mound for the Lugnuts striking out six Renegade batters. Mindy Carter went 3-for-4 with a double Kasee had two hits including the homerun, Kinsey Reynolds, Hall and Alandria McBride all had a pair of hits and Foster went 1-for-3 with the grand slam.
